AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Very beautiful Art Deco wall coat rack. The coat rack is 80cm wide, 33cm high, and 15cm deep. It is made of oak, with hooks made of brass, each topped with a wooden ball. The coat rack weighs approximately 4.5kg.
The coat rack dates from the 1920s and is a typical product of Art Deco, particularly of the Amsterdamse school. Very characteristic of this style are the clean and symmetrical lines of the decoration on the coat rack (see photos), and the shape of the hooks. Additionally, the wooden ball on the hooks is very attractive. These hooks are also sold separately and fetch high prices!

This coat rack is still in very good condition. It is also still 100% original, with all original mounting materials. There is a suspicion that at some point in its life, this coat rack was fitted with a mirror (which was a long time ago), where the upper part of the hook for the mirror was removed, because the ball would otherwise have been in front of the mirror. This is not certain, but it seems likely. Also very beautiful are the two sides that have been ebonized. Ebonizing was often done in the past. To make wood look like expensive ebony wood, it was then black stained. The original hanging eyes on the back (see photos) are also very nice. The screws for these eyes are still original as well. Another striking feature is the beautiful wood grain of the oak wood (photos).
This coat rack, with its distinctive design, is a piece of jewelry in any interior and certainly a conversation piece.

The coat rack is skillfully packed and shipped insured.
