Silver reliquary door, saint figure, reliquary holder – 19th century - Germany
Massive silver reliquary, crafted in the form of a standing saint holding a Gothic-style architectural reliquary.
The figure, with a youthful and stylized head, is dressed in a long tunic with pronounced folds, rendered in high relief. It supports in front of it a rectangular reliquary with a scaled roof, decorated with ogival arches and a central medallion featuring a quadrilobed floral motif. This type of representation refers to the iconography of relic-bearing saints or sanctuaries.
The piece rests on a polygonal base, richly carved with vegetal motifs, supported by four lion-head-shaped feet, symbols of vigilance and sacrality. The hunting is designed as a reliquary receptacle.
Silver, bearing an oval maker’s mark punch with the initials J K
Overall presentation condition, with signs of old wear, micro-chocks, and friction zones consistent with usage and age.
Uniform patina, not cleaned to white.
