Here we present one of the most iconic accessories of the Barnack era: the Leitz FODIS vertical rangefinder, an essential companion to the early Leica (I, Standard).

What sets this specimen apart from all others currently on the market is its supernatural state of preservation.

Technical analysis
- Model: FODIS (vertical rangefinder).
Finish: Black Paint.
- Condition: 1 (MINT/NEW). The paint shows no signs of wear, no micro scratches, and no visible brass on the edges. The object has retained its original luster from the 1920s.
Optics: clear aiming, some dust, functional and precise telemeter.
Graduated scale in meters.
- The case: The lot includes its brown leather case. The case is also in brand new condition (seams intact, soft leather, functional clasp). A rare find, it bears the embossed signature 'LEICA,' confirming its authenticity and value.

Our opinion: It is probably an almost 'New Old Stock' specimen (never used). A rare opportunity to acquire a FODIS that has not aged a day in 100 years. Ideal for accompanying a high-collection Leica I 'Black Paint'.
