Description from the seller
FRANCIS HUBENS & MULLER FRERES
A pair of French art deco flush mounts by Francis Hubens. Made around 1931- 1934. Nickel-plated bronze or solid brass mounts hold a nice skyscraper shade in clear frosted pressed glass. Francis Hubens was a Paris based lighting manufacturer during the interbellum. With his workshop and showroom at 68 rue des Archives. Hubens primarily used Degué shades for his fixtures. Some models specially made for Hubens by Degué bear a Hubens signature. But also Muller freres made one model shade for Hubens. This model exists in two sizes. They come in versions signed Hubens and in ones signed Muller. Furthermore they exist unsigned and a version exists with both the Hubens and Muller signature. The ones on these flush mounts are the smaller ones and they have both the Muller and the Hubens signature: On four sides of the hexagonal shade it is marked Francis Hubens-France-Muller freres-Luneville. The 'Muller freres' part is practically invisible and shows up like a kind of braille only. These shades were produced by the Muller glass factories around 1930 onwards.
The nickeled bronze base was used for many lighting fixtures. Hubens used it for chandelier canopies for table lamps and for flush mounts. The flush mounts were sold by Hubens with seven different model globes: by Degué Muller and EJG.
The flush mounts have a height of 22 cm. The bases are 14,4 cm x 12,6 cm. The lamps are in very good condition. I re-nickeled and patinated the mountings. And they are rewired with an American candelabra base socket. For European countries I will place E14 ones.
On catawiki my listings have low reserve prices. I offer no aftersales when the reserve is not met.
Safe packaging guaranteed : As restorer specialized in French art Deco lighting for over 20 years I ship my parcels worldwide with the fragile items well protected and fully insured.
Having custom made wiring I can accept no returns.
No shipping to the USA.
