The 'Violet Spider Conch' is one of the most famous classic rarities in the world of conchology and perhaps the most beautiful of spiders. Known for its deep purple aperture, which sets it apart from all other spider conchs. It is generally considered the most sought-after step in the Indian Ocean and was one of fifty species selected by S. Peter Dance in 'Rare Shells' (1969).
