Description
This lot concerns a matching set of four richly carved oak chairs, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1880–1905).
The chairs are made of solid oak wood and feature beautifully hand-carved backrests with, among other elements, lion heads, scrollwork, and a central cartouche, characteristic of the neo-Renaissance / historicist style. The supports and legs are crafted in a twisted form (barley twist).
Both the seat and the backrest are fitted with the original rattan weaving, which, given its age, is in good and usable condition. The wood has a beautiful, warm patina that is fitting for its age and use.
The chairs are intended as decorative or occasional seating furniture, suitable for a hall, study, or classic interior.
