AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

An Art Deco End-of-day Glass hanging Flower Pot
Netherlands - 1930s

End-of-day glass refers to items made by factory glassworkers in their own time, typically at the end of the working day, using up the remaining molten glass left in the pots. As a result, these pieces often display a mixture of many different colours. Such items were also known as “friggers.”

End-of-day pieces could be playful or experimental, such as glass animals or walking sticks, or more practical objects intended for the glassworker’s own home. Some were also made for sale.

Over time, however, the term has come to be used more loosely to describe any glass object featuring marvered colour. This technique involves laying small fragments or specks of coloured glass on a flat surface, known as a marver, rolling the hot glass over them, and then melting them in. This hanging flower pot is an example of that later usage.

Height = 13 cm
Diameter = 17.3 cm
Weight = 650 g

Good condition. Normal traces of age and use. A few chips and fritting along the rim. Some surface scratches and imperfections.
Please take a careful look at all photos for a good impression.
