Description from the seller
Pair of French Art Nouveau vases, one signed on the side: Joseph Mure, known as JEM (20th century), France, early 1900s. Glass vases with trees and a winter landscape, snowy, known as 'Paysage de Neige'. A pair of quadrangular soliflores, with beveled sides and finely painted decoration in polychrome enamels of snowy forest landscapes on a yellow-orange background at the top, transitioning to a marbled yellow cream at the base. The pieces are unique art or collectible objects, as indicated by the manual signature. Bibliography: JEM was the signature of Joseph Mure, a pupil (though this is not certain) of Francois Theodore Legras (1839-1916), who used enamel techniques perfected at Legras, particularly inspired by forest landscapes. He created decorative objects in ceramic, terracotta, and painted glass in his workshop located at 98 rue du Faubourg St Martin in Paris. His birth and death dates are unknown. It appears he was active between 1920 and 1944. They measure: height 20.3 x 8 x 8 cm.
