Description from the seller
Decorative desk clock made of glazed French ceramic, dating from the second half of the 20th century, with a design inspired by 19th-century historicist models. The structure features a vertical architectural form, with a pinnacled top and a molded base, all enriched with gold-toned metal ornaments in the Rococo style: scrolls, garlands, curved legs, and floral elements that add dynamism and elegance.
The central body houses the clock dial with Roman numerals, signed 'Rotondo', framed by embossed metallic ornamentation. Below the dial, a painted porcelain cartouche is incorporated, depicting a gallant scene inspired by classical themes, featuring figures in eighteenth-century attire in romantic or pastoral poses, typical of French decorative taste.
This type of watch, produced more as a decorative object than as a precision piece, reflects the taste for aristocratic evocation and accessible luxury in mid-20th-century home decor. Its condition, the quality of the enameling, and the balance between ceramics and metal make it appealing to collectors of decorative watches or environments with a classic style.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
