This fascinating sphere is made from the rare stone K2 Jasper, also known as K2 Granitoid or simply K2 Stone. It is named after the second highest mountain on Earth.
The sphere displays a cream-gray to light gray base color with distinctive bright blue spots that immediately catch the eye. These blue inclusions are made of azurite, a copper mineral embedded in the granite rock.
