Description from the seller
Battleship IOWA BB-61 (Length 51 cm)
(see pictures)
The Iowa (designation: BB-61) is a former battleship of the United States Navy and the lead ship of the Iowa class. It served during World War II initially in the Atlantic and later in the Pacific, where it supported the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, among others. After World War II, the Iowa was initially placed in the reserve fleet. During the Korean War, it was reactivated and played an important role in supporting ground operations through coastal bombardments. In the 1980s, the Iowa was modernized as part of the naval rearmament under President Ronald Reagan. This modernization included the installation of Tomahawk and Harpoon missiles as well as modern fire control systems. On April 19, 1989, a tragic explosion occurred in gun turret No. 2, resulting in the death of 47 crew members. The damage was not repaired. The final decommissioning of the Iowa took place on October 26, 1990. Today, it is accessible as a museum ship in the port of Los Angeles, California.
A must-have for every collector.
Note: Costs for parcel shipping include packaging, shipping, postage, tracking fees, and insurance up to €500. Small parts / figures may be damaged or broken during transport. Parts may also be missing.
