Description from the seller
Beautiful collection of Olympus small-format cameras. From Olympus's early period to the end.
The history of Olympus cameras began in 1936 with the Semi-Olympus I, but the company started in 1919 with microscopes and thermometers. After the war, they introduced the Olympus Six fold cameras in 1948 and the legendary, compact Olympus PEN in 1959, which changed the camera industry. Later, the revolutionary OM series (1972), the smallest and lightest SLR of its time, followed, and in the digital era, the Micro Four Thirds PEN and OM-D systems, until the camera division was spun off in 2020 and continued under the name OM System.
1948: Introduction of the Olympus Six, a medium-format folding camera.
The Pen- revolution
In 1959, the original Olympus PEN, a half-frame camera, became a huge success thanks to its compact size and ease of use, designed by Yoshihisa Maitani.
Single-Lens Reflex (SLR) era
In 1972, the introduction of the OM-1, the smallest and lightest SLR camera in the world, caused a sensation. OM series: This system included compact bodies and lightweight Zuiko lenses, which became popular as an alternative to heavier competitors.
