Description from the seller
Rare crystal decanter by Moser from Karlsbad – Early 1900s (Pre-1936)
A splendid collectible piece from the prestigious Bohemian manufactory Moser (Karlovy Vary). This jug represents the excellence of early 20th-century glass art, a golden era for Moser glassware, which was then the official supplier to the main European courts.
Technical Details
Height: 23.5 cm
Width (including handle): 20 cm
Weight: 1.222 g (1.22 kg) – An important weight that certifies the density and purity of the crystal.
Material: Superior lead-free crystal, mouth-blown and hand-cut.
Description and Processing
The carafe is distinguished by a complex combination of grinding techniques, executed with millimeter precision.
Diamond Cut Band: At the center of the body, a rich band engraved with small raised diamonds stands out, breaking up the light into prismatic reflections.
Fluted Base: The lower part is crafted with broad vertical concave facets, giving the structure a sense of dynamism and elegance.
Lunette (Thumbprint) Cut: Refined circular indentations adorn the connections between the different molded sections.
Pelican Beak and Ergonomic Handle: The mouth is finished with a shiny, clean cut; the handle, applied hot, features a clean line typical of Moser's neoclassical-modern taste.
Note for Collectors – Authenticity:
The object bears no signature, a characteristic consistent with Moser production prior to 1936, the year when the company began systematically acid-marking its pieces. The attribution is confirmed by the catalog design of the period, the cutting technique, and the unmistakable brilliance of the Moser crystal.
Condition of Preservation
The item is in excellent condition. The crystal is perfectly clear, free of calcareous opacity or significant chips. A piece of rare elegance, perfect for a luxury table setting or as a display piece.
