2. Description
RARE COLLECTOR'S VARIANT. This is an original 1956 US promotional EP, but it is not the standard promo release. This copy is the "Very Limited Indianapolis Pressing", a variation that was only fully documented by the Elvis collecting community in 2015. Key Identification Points present on this copy:
Label Text: Both Side 1 and Side 2 feature the word "HIGHLIGHTS" below the title. (Standard and transitional copies typically have the word "HIGHLIGHTER" on one or both sides).
Matrix Numbers: Features the specific Indianapolis matrix endings 6S on both sides (G2NH-7231-6S / G2NH-7232-6S), which are exclusive to this rare pressing.
Design: Features the horizontal silver line on the label with "NOT FOR SALE" in one line.
Standard copies of this EP are desirable, but this specific textual and matrix variation is significantly scarcer.
3. Condition
Visual Grade: Very Good Plus (VG+) / Very Good Plus (VG+).
Vinyl: The playing surface retains its gloss but shows surface scuffs and hairline marks consistent with a vintage 1956 pressing.
Labels: Clean Indianapolis-style labels. The critical "HIGHLIGHTS" text is sharp and legible on both sides. No stickers or writing.
Sleeve: The original cardboard picture sleeve is in solid condition with visible ring wear and corner softening typical of this red paper stock, but remains fully intact.
4. Notes for collectors
This specific combination of "HIGHLIGHTS" text on both sides and the 6S/6S matrix was unknown to the broader collecting community for nearly 60 years.
Market Context: While the standard SPA 7-37 is a known promo item, this variant is a true "oddball" rarity that likely had a much smaller production run at the Indianapolis plant.
Validation: The runout stamps G2NH-7231-6S and G2NH-7232-6S match the documented identifiers for this rare pressing perfectly.
