Description from the seller
This medium-sized sculpture, measuring 55 cm in length, depicts a detailed statue of the nocturnal Überfahr-Stier and is handcrafted, making it a unique work of art. The sculpture belongs to the figures motifs and adds a mystical touch to any space.
Interpretation of the sculpture
The sculpture is a work of contemporary sculpture with a fantastic and metaphorical character.
1. The vessel: a rounded, small boat that symbolizes a crossing — the 'Nightly crossing' often represents an uncertain or dangerous journey, the transition into a new phase of life, or a metaphorical journey through darkness (of life or night).
The passengers: The stylized figures, partly human, partly animal (wild boar/pig, winged creature with glasses), represent a community of fate. The different nature of the figures emphasizes the idea that all kinds of beings or characters participate in this 'crossing.'
The capsule with the figures balances precariously on the irregular stone block. This conveys a sense of insecurity, risk, and unstable balance – the journey is neither easy nor safe.
