Description from the seller
This unique porcelain figurine depicts an exotic parrot from the Amazons genus – a proud bird with vividly green plumage and a yellow head. It was crafted at the renowned Bavarian manufactory Hutschenreuther in Selb, one of the most esteemed German producers of artistic porcelain, whose roots date back to 1814.
The author of the project is Professor Fritz Klee, a renowned artist and director of the school of crafts in Selb. The figurine was created in the artistic department of the manufactory (Abteilung für Kunst) between 1919 and 1928, as evidenced by the signature 'LHS Selb Bavaria'.
The parrot was hand-painted and glazed with a shiny glaze, making every detail – from the delicate feather texture to the precise shading of colors – showcase the craftsmanship characteristic of Hutschenreuther porcelain.
The figurine stands on a round, white base decorated with a gold rim, subtle leaves, and a purple fruit, which adds to its elegance and lightness. Dimensions: approximately 17 cm in height (16.5 × 18 cm).
Stan: very good, undamaged, with the original manufacturer signature.
Hutschenreuther bird figurines, especially those designed by Fritz Klee, are among the most sought after by collectors. This piece combines artistic value, rarity, and timeless beauty of classic Bavarian porcelain – making it an ideal addition to any decorative art collection.
