Description from the seller

Exquisite 19th Century Victorian Burl Walnut & Marquetry Inlay Trinket Box.

A stunning example of mid-to-late 19th-century craftsmanship, this antique trinket box features highly figured Burl Walnut veneers known for their deep, swirling grain and "bird's eye" patterns. The lid is centered with a sophisticated hand-cut marquetry medallion in an oval cartouche, featuring a stylized floral or "fleur-de-lis" motif crafted from boxwood and ebony-toned fruitwoods.

Materials: Fine burl walnut exterior with delicate boxwood stringing (inlay lines) along the edges. The interior is lined with a smooth, warm mahogany or fruitwood secondary wood.

Construction: Features a solid brass piano hinge and a stepped interior "lip" designed to provide a dust-proof seal for the contents.

Condition: Excellent antique condition. The wood retains a deep, lustrous patina with minimal wear consistent with age. The marquetry is intact and the structural joints remain tight.

Length: 12 cm
Width: 10 cm
Height: 6.3 cm

This box is a perfect size for a desk organizer, jewelry, or a collector's display piece. Its compact proportions and the high quality of the burl veneer make it a highly desirable piece for enthusiasts of fine Treen and Victorian decorative arts.
