Description from the seller
French writing desk Charles X in figured walnut – circa 1830
Superb antique writing desk from the Charles X period, made of solid and veneered walnut, featuring remarkable flamed grain on the lid and the fronts.
The piece opens with a lift-up lid revealing an originally compartmented interior, consisting of several side compartments and a large central space, intended for storing writing accessories (pens, inkwell, seals, papers).
The facade is adorned with its original brass lock entrance, of a lozenge shape, characteristic of the period. All the hardware is antique, (key absent).
The whole rests on a sober and elegant construction, typical of the Charles X style, highlighting the quality of the wood and the purity of the lines.
