Description from the seller

Portugal. Goa. 1 Escudo. 1959. State of India.

Value: 1 escudo
Year: 1959
- Inscriptions: Obverse: STATE OF INDIA 1$00. Reverse: PORTUGUESE REPUBLIC 1959.
- Grade: MS65 (NGC)

Coin issued during the Portuguese administration of the Estado da Índia features the coat of arms of Goa under Portuguese rule, crowned by the shields of the main Portuguese territories. The reverse displays the national coat of arms of Portugal over an armillary sphere, a traditional symbol of the Age of Discoveries. This piece was minted shortly before Goa's annexation to India in 1961, making it a numismatic testimony to the end of Portuguese colonial rule on the subcontinent. The MS65 grade highlights its sharp details and original shine.

Disclaimer: For orders shipped outside the European Union, I want to make it absolutely clear that I ship from Spain. This means that if the package is sent to any country outside the European Union, and/or inside the EU that has a special tax agreement (for example: Canary Islands), it might be stopped in your local customs, and they might ask you to pay taxes. This is a customs legal procedure and is completely out of our control. Thank you for your understanding.
