Description from the seller
Æ (Spain, b. 1977) — Marilyn — Shadows
Mixed Media Triptych · 2025
Hand-signed, numbered, with Certificate of Authenticity
(Refs. 1585 · 1586 · 1587)
This monochrome triptych approaches Marilyn Monroe as both image and absence — a figure shaped by light, shadow, and repetition. Rather than portrait likeness, the work focuses on contrast and erosion, allowing form to emerge through darkness and restraint.
Working in black and white, Æ distills Marilyn’s cinematic presence into a sequence of shifting expressions and tonal rhythms. Across the three panels, light fragments and dissolves, suggesting the tension between visibility and vulnerability that has come to define her enduring image.
Each work is individually hand-finished, introducing subtle variations while preserving the unity of the triptych as a single visual statement.

Artist and designer Æ holds a Bachelor’s degree in Digital Design and Multimedia Technologies (Barcelona, 2004) and a Bachelor’s degree in East Asian Studies. Drawn to digital mediums from an early age, Æ has been creating and experimenting since the era of 1980s computer graphics, developing a unique aesthetic influenced by minimalism, conceptual art, and skateboard graphics. His works are featured in private collections across more than 30 countries, including The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Notably, his pieces are also part of public collections, such as the Oriental Art Collection at the Zaragoza Museum (2024), home to Spain’s most significant collection of Eastern art.
Æ’s artwork is defined by its minimalist style, employing a restrained palette and simple forms to convey profound emotions and ideas. His frequent use of stark, high-contrast imagery accentuates the interplay between light and darkness, hope and despair. This minimalist approach fosters an eerie, unsettling atmosphere that amplifies themes of isolation. Through this pared-down aesthetic, Æ achieves a powerful emotional impact with minimal imagery, compelling the viewer to confront the stark realities of a new world, rich with symbols, East Asian characters, and iconic imagery.
Artist was the subject of a review by respected exhibitions art curator Thierry Fournier (Artnoises).
“Collected AE (XX), it comes down to wanting, breaking, transgressing, an invisible border, to merging the civilizational DNA of the future and the past, looking down and in the same second, rocking! the work becomes a ticket, a simple ‘go!’ for an emotional teleportation that we live and see in ‘Black and white’! Æ2381 pushes you to jump into a void, in fact, populated with images, symbols, unexplored signs that propels us to a Real Timeless!”
