Napoléon III era mantel clock from France with a gilded régule figural group atop a white marble base, a brass dial, and a French mechanical movement with winding key, dating to about 1870–1890, with demi-heure striking on one gong; dimensions 35 × 36.5 × 15 cm, weight 6.6 kg, not in working order and showing antique patina.
Description from the seller
French decorative clock from the Napoleonic III era, dating from the late 19th century (around 1870-1890).
The clock is decorated with a sculpted group in gilded régule depicting an allegorical scene of a woman holding a child, a typical composition of the period's decorative taste.
The group rests on a molded white marble base, decorated with decorative feet.
The circular dial is made of white enamel with Roman numerals.
The clock is equipped with a French mechanical movement with key winding, featuring two springs (time and striking).
An engraved inscription 'Rubens' is visible beneath the marble, corresponding to a model or workshop designation, common for this type of 19th-century production.
Golden regulator with signs of wear and aging patina, consistent with its age, marble in good overall condition, with oxidation traces at the movement points requiring servicing. The clock starts then stops after a certain period; the chime disengages when winding. The spring is fully wound and straight. Not functional.
Beautiful decorative object of French clocks from the late 19th century, ideal for collection or decoration after revision.
