Tanzanite is a blue to violet variety of the mineral zoisite. Like the pink variety thulite, it is used exclusively as a gemstone.

How zoisite crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system and typically develops transparent, prismatic to columnar crystals that can reach several centimeters in length and exhibit a glass-like luster on their surfaces. In contrast, cleavage planes tend to shimmer more pearly.

The iron meteorite Campo del Cielo was first mentioned in 1576. At the site, there is a field of 122 pits and craters, the largest measuring 70 meters in diameter and 5 meters deep. Over the past two centuries, numerous masses, some weighing tons, have been recovered there, bringing the total weight to an estimated 30-50 tons, making Campo del Cielo the third-largest meteorite after Hoba and Cape York.
