Babyland

Takashi Homma
Little More/1995/Japanese/230*245*10

Babyland / Babyland” is a collection of photographs by Takashi Homma, one of Japan's leading photographers. After leaving Light Publicity, he moved to London, where he worked for fashion and culture magazine “i-D” and other publications. Homma was born into a camera shop family and grew up in a housing complex. In 1999, he published “TOKYO SUBURBIA: Tokyo Suburbs,” which won the 24th Ihei Kimura Award. His subsequent successes are well known. Homma has been active in a wide range of fields, from motifs of “children” and “nature” to portraits of celebrities and abstract works. This book is a commemorative first collection of his photographs published in 1995. While his early works are solid, with a certain distance from the subject that is characteristic of photographers, they somehow convey a sense of “humanity. This collection is a prelude to his later works such as “TOKYO SUBURBIA” and “Tokyo's Children.
