The first booklet, “The Art of Akira Kurosawa: Seven Samurai”, was sold exclusively in Japanese theaters during the 1991 re-release of the “Complete Original Version” of Seven Samurai.
Although commemorating Seven Samurai, this special program also features overviews of many of the films directed by Akira Kurosawa, making it a comprehensive tribute to his career.
Major works introduced include:
Rashomon (1950),
Throne of Blood (1957),
Yojimbo (1961), and others.
It also features appearances by Seven Samurai cast members such as
Toshiro Mifune, Takashi Shimura, Minoru Chiaki, Isao Kimura, and others.
The second booklet is the original Japanese theatrical program for Kagemusha (1980), one of Kurosawa’s epic masterpieces, known for its stunning visuals and historical depth. This is an authentic program sold at Japanese cinemas at the time of its release.
