Morocco origin and model Authentic Vintage Moroccan Talsint Rug – 1970s / 1980s – Handwoven Berber Wool Carpet, 410 cm by 200 cm, wool on wool, in very good condition and professionally cleaned.
Description from the seller
This early vintage Moroccan Talsint rug dates from the 1960s–1970s and represents an older generation of Berber weaving from the Talsint area in southeastern Morocco. Handwoven entirely from natural sheep wool, this piece reflects a more spontaneous and expressive approach to tribal rug making, characteristic of mid-20th-century rural production.
The surface is animated by an all-over abstract field of small, irregular motifs, creating a dynamic texture rather than a rigid geometric composition. The dominant magenta and purple tones are softened by natural grey and undyed wool, giving the rug depth and a subtle sense of movement. This type of dense, almost “pointillist” patterning is typical of older Talsint rugs, woven intuitively without formal symmetry.
The wool pile is thick and lively, with visible variations in height and density that testify to its handmade nature. The rug shows a beautiful natural patina acquired over decades, making it particularly attractive to collectors of authentic Moroccan tribal textiles.
Interior Use & Styling
This rug works especially well in refined interiors seeking character and authenticity. It can soften minimalist spaces, add warmth to contemporary interiors, or be used as a decorative textile in a creative or artistic environment. Its rich color field also makes it suitable as a wall piece.
