AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

This auction features an original pair of 'Brera' table lamps produced by Flos, one of the most refined and symbolic projects by Achille Castiglioni, a master of Italian design of the twentieth century.

The name Brera is not random. Castiglioni was inspired by the famous Pala di Brera by Piero della Francesca, which is housed in the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan.
At the center of the painting, the mysterious suspended egg stands out, symbolizing perfection, balance, and the origin of life. Castiglioni translates this iconographic element into an essential and timeless design object: a pure ovoidal form, visually suspended above a minimal base.

The lamp thus becomes a true conceptual object, where Renaissance art and industrial design dialogue in an ironic and intelligent manner, a stylistic signature typical of Castiglioni.

The lamp is composed of:
Blown opaline glass diffuser, which ensures a soft and uniform light.
Structure and base in black painted metal, solid and well-balanced.
Internal light source with an oval shape for uniform diffusion without glare.

The proportion between the diffuser and the base is designed to create an effect of visual lightness, almost suspended, despite the structure being extremely stable.

The two lamps are in exceptional condition, like new.
Perfectly intact opaline glass, with no cracks or marks.
Black bases without scratches or oxidation.
Original Flos internal labels present
perfectly functioning
