Description from the seller
Jan Dirk van Exter (October 13, 1915 – May 11, 1982, Amsterdam) began his career in 1932 at the Heldersche Courant. From 1934, he was a freelance copywriter and illustrator for various magazines. Just as he was about to start, the war broke out. In 1943-44, Jan Dirk van Exter worked at the Toonder-Geesink Studios.
In December 1946, Van Exter started with the comic strip 'Rikki en de Waterdemon van het Alkmaarder-meer' for various North Holland newspapers. This strip was taken over a year later by all the newspapers of the then-established Regional Daily Newspaper Press and ran until 1956, along with Van Exter's children's comic strip 'Pim, Pam en Pom'. On September 26, 1958, Van Exter's successful text comic strip 'Brommy en Tommy' debuted in Het Parool.
This lot features a beautiful, large, original drawing from a story by Rikki Visser. Rikki Visser himself is also depicted beautifully. Original work by Exter is almost never circulated.
This lot will be sent to the new owner via registered mail with maximum protective packaging.
