Nok Culture seated figure in orange terracotta, about 64 cm high, from Nigeria, dating to the 5th century BC–5th century AD, in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear, with a QED Laboratory thermoluminescence test approved, provenance from a private collection and acquired in 2025 from a French auction house.
Description from the seller
NOK figure in orange terracotta. A seated male figure with an expressive face, an elongated conical head narrowing from the eyebrows to the mouth, topped with a ceremonial conical hairstyle. Dressed with a belt, large groups of bracelets, and a thick, decorative collar around the neck, with both hands resting below.
Terracotta, 64 cm in height.
Includes approved thermoluminescence test from QED LABORATOIRE.
Superficial habitual wear on this type of figures. (Old restoration is visible on the back and on the head, which is common in these pieces due to their size and age). See photographs.
Provenance: M. L.F. Private Collection, Madrid. Purchased at a French auction house in the year 2025.
