Raymond Chevallier (1900–1959), along with Charles Catteau (1880–1966), was one of the great designers of Boch Keramis during the Art Deco era.
Raymond Henri-Chevallier was born in Auxerre, France, on October 14, 1900.
He studied at the École nationale des Beaux-Arts de Lyon and was hired at the end of his studies as the head of the decoration department at the Longwy earthenware factory. It is on the ground that he develops and perfects his technique in the arts of fire.
At the age of 25, he received the bronze medal at the 1925 International Exposition of Decorative Arts in Paris.
After working for the Longwy manufacturer, he joined the Boch Keramis Manufacture. From 1937 to 1954, he was in charge of the direction of the Artistic Creation Workshop, succeeding Charles Catteau.
Their achievements stand out for the richness of the color palette, often enhanced with gold.
