Description from the seller

Handmade rug in Ziegler/Chobi style, modern high-quality production (likely Pakistani/Afghan craftsmanship, last 30-40 years) that masterfully reinterprets the designs of ancient Persian rugs.

The design is a classic 'full field' pattern inspired by 19th-century Sultanabad, characterized by a harmonious motif of large palmettes, stylized flowers, and tendrils. The absence of a central medallion gives it an open, balanced, and versatile appearance, adaptable to both classic and modern decor.

The color palette is the distinctive feature: a refined beige/sand background serves as the base for motifs in intense red (probably from madder) and ochre, framed by a vibrant red border that creates an elegant contrast. The intentionally 'antiqued' (distressed) effect, achieved with special washes and vegetable dyes, offers pleasing tonal variations (abrash) that add depth and character.

The photos confirm the artisanal craftsmanship: hand-knotted with medium density, it favors softness and a vintage appearance. The warp is made of solid cotton and the pile of fine wool (probably Ghazni, hand-spun), known for superbly absorbing natural dyes.

Combining the chromatic charm of an ancient Persian with the practicality and durability of modern quality craftsmanship, this piece has character and is ready to add warmth and personality to your new home.
