Description from the seller

Baroque wall sconce made of carved wood and wrought iron, 18th century

Large Baroque wall sconce with an ornately crafted, hand-carved wooden back panel and three candle arms made of wrought iron.
The carving depicts bold acanthus leaves and volutes in deeply three-dimensional execution. The work is entirely handcrafted; the back and interior contours feature hand-sawn shapes, irregular wall thicknesses, and visible tool marks, typical of Baroque workshop craftsmanship from the 18th century.

The forged iron arms with leaf decoration are hand-forged and were presumably added or modified in the late 18th or early 19th century, which is common for historically used wall sconces of this type. Smaller fastening elements were replaced later. The overall historical impression remains authentically preserved.

The wall candle holder is not electrified and is designed for candles. The candle sockets are made of wood.

Dating
Wood carving: 18th century (ca. 1720–1770)
Wrought iron arms: late 18th to early 19th century.

Material
Carved solid wood
wrought iron
