Minolta X-700 black 35mm SLR with MD 1.7/50mm lens, tested and working.
Description from the seller
The Minolta X-700 is a 35 mm film SLR camera introduced by Minolta in 1981. It was the flagship model of their last series of manual focus SLR cameras before the introduction of the Minolta Dynax 7000 with autofocus. It was so popular that it was produced until 1999, at a time when even digital cameras with autofocus were beginning to take over.
The X-700 used the basic housing of the XG-M with electronically controlled stepless shutter speeds, but in addition to the aperture priority and manual exposure measurement of the XG-M, it also added a fully automatic program mode. This program mode was referred to as 'MPS' or Minolta Program System.
The camera also introduced TTL flash metering (Through-The-Lens) in aperture priority or program mode, where exposure and flash output were automatically adjusted for perfect exposure without the user needing to make any adjustments. Additionally, exposure lock and interchangeable focus screens were added to the functions of the XG-M. The X-700 was designed to appeal to as broad an audience of photographers as possible. Its user-friendly, fully automated program mode made it a compact camera that anyone could use, but thanks to its many advanced features and available accessories and lenses, the camera was also attractive to professionals.
Motivated by the enormous success of the affordable Canon AE-1 and other consumer cameras, Minolta followed this example in designing the new camera by offering a wide range of optional accessories. The X-700 formed the basis of the 'Minolta Program System,' with accessories such as flash units, film winders, motor drives, databacks, multifunctional backs, power grips, wireless controllers, and so on.
In 1981, the X-700 was named European Camera of the Year. Thanks to its competitive price, it became the most successful Minolta camera since the SRT series.
In 1999, after being in production for 18 years, the X-700 was discontinued. Even today, the Minolta X-700 remains one of the most sought-after SLR cameras for serious beginners in the analog market. This is also because there are incredibly many, very good Minolta MD lenses available.
The camera has been tested and functions properly. Some cosmetic signs of age and previous use. A camera that you can enjoy a lot.
