Set of 5 miniature picture frames with 2 magnifying lens portraits – 19th century

This decorative collection consists of five small picture frames with two magnifying glass portraits, presumably from the 19th century. The oval portraits depict finely executed female images in the style of the period and are each presented behind a curved glass cover (magnifying glass).

The miniatures are set in rectangular frames with light matting. The portraits are accentuated by ornamented, gold-colored oval surrounds, which create a beautiful contrast to the calm background surfaces. On the back, the frames are equipped with hanging loops, making them suitable for wall display.

Such magnified portraits were popular salon and cabinet pieces in the 19th century and were often presented in groups or series. The execution as a convolute gives the ensemble a special decorative charm.

Condition / Note
One of the frames has damaged glass (see photos). The remaining frames are in an age-appropriate condition with signs of use, small scratches, and patina that are consistent with their age.
