Antique English Canterbury – signed Wilkinson – solid walnut – circa 1870
Very exceptional and original 19th-century English Canterbury newspaper and music holder, made from solid walnut wood and richly hand-carved in Rococo-revival style.
This special piece of furniture is signed by the atelier Wilkinson & Son (England, active circa 1855–1900) — a well-known Victorian furniture maker who crafted luxury library and piano furniture for the English elite. Signed Canterburys are rare and highly prized by collectors.
De Canterbury features multiple compartments for newspapers, music scores, or mail, a spacious drawer with original bone/ivory knobs, and stands on original brass wheels. The warm, original patina has been fully preserved.
An elegant, decorative, and at the same time highly collectible piece of furniture.
