【 Six-Wheel Shock Makes Its Japan Debut 】
The Tyrrell P34, the only six-wheeled car in F1 history, proved its potential wasn't just about being eccentric. It competed in the 1976 F1 season, achieving a 1-2 finish at the Swedish Grand Prix. That year, it also appeared at Fuji Speedway for Japan's first-ever F1 race. In qualifying, J. Scheckter secured 5th place and P. Depailler 13th. During the rainy race, P. Depailler mounted a fierce charge, briefly taking the lead. Though his rain tires eventually burst as the track dried, causing him to drop positions, he battled through the turbulent race to finish second behind M. Andretti in his Lotus. He demonstrated the car's high performance to Japanese fans.
