Semi-hull of the Shamrock racing yacht.
Total dimensions of the frame: 60 cm x 23 cm.
The yacht Shamrock was, during the 1899 America's Cup, the challenger from the Royal Ulster Yacht Club against the defender sloop Columbia.
The plans of the Shamrock were drawn by Scottish architect William Fife III in 1898 at the request of Sir Thomas Lipton. The construction was carried out by J. Thorneycroft Co shipyards at Church Wharf. Due to the large size of the boat, the construction was carried out in Millwall (London), in the utmost secrecy. It was launched on June 24, 1899.
In preparation for the America's Cup, he faced Valkyrie III, the challenger of the 1895 Cup, and defeated the Britannia, Her Majesty's yacht, twice during regattas at the Isle of Wight. In the summer of 1899, representing the Royal Ulster Yacht Club, he faced the defender Columbia in New York.
