A TOLEMAIC ARMILLARY SPHERE, early 19th
An Italian Tolemaic (earth-centered) armillary sphere from the early 19th century.
Diameter 28cm ; total height 45cm, base diam 13cm.
Condition: very good, note a few cms missing ring to a meridian (photo).
Terrestrial globe showing Australia linked to Tasmania (discovered as an insula in 1785).
No Antartic land. Some worm holes are present.
Complete with Moon and Sun discs fixed on articulated arms.
Overall constructios is red-painted metal, typical of late 18th-early 19th century
