AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Large predatory fish Caturus sp. from the limestone of Painten, Bavaria, Germany.

The approximately 33 cm long predator fish has a beautiful dark color and shows many details. The predator fish bite with many sharp teeth is especially well preserved.

The extraordinarily dark color of the fish is original and typical for certain layers at this discovery site.

The piece was meticulously prepared to create a spectacular collectible item.
During the preparation, the fish was re-bedded and placed on a nice display plate. Only minor restorations, covering less than 10%, were carried out on the fish. These restorations concern areas along former fissures and fractures in the rock. The rock at this find site, especially the layers where the fossils are found in particularly dark preservation, is often heavily fractured and riddled with cracks, making such restorations unavoidable. Only through very meticulous preparation can such a remarkable collection piece be obtained.

The plate with a natural outline measures approximately 52x34x2 cm.

The metal stand is not part of the offer and is not included with the delivery.
