The symbol (⸻)
Description
Very fine and elegant porcelain box from Limoges, France, made around the end of the 20th century.
The box is crafted in a rich deep green base color with a subtle cloud pattern and is decorated with a white cartouche featuring a gilded trophy motif with crossed torches and a laurel wreath — a classic Belle Époque symbol of honor, merit, and victory.
The entire piece is finished with a fine gilded bronze mount (ormolu) with a profiled edge and an elegant shell-shaped clasp. The decoration is hand-painted and hand-gilded, with no transfer printing.
Marked at the bottom with 'France – Limoges,' a typical export marking from this period.
