Description from the seller

Carol Rama: Self Portrait
Edited by Flavio Arensi and Alexandra Wetzel

Carol Rama (Turin, 1918) is a highly autobiographical artist who never ceases to tell her story, and in this narrative, she transcribes the entire lived experience of an era through poetic eyes. The present volume, catalog of the exhibition organized by the City of Legnano and curated by Flavio Arensi and Alexandra Wetzel, reproduces seventy-six works created between 1937 and 2005, divided into six strong thematic nuclei: Self-portrait, Others, Frogs, Little Theater, Seductions, and Fetishes. These themes serve as the starting point for a journey into Carol Rama's world, her innovative and overwhelming poetics. In a 2004 interview, she stated: 'I discovered I was an artist when I was more or less fifteen years old. For me, every problem was a stimulus. Instead of being like other women, gossipy and nagging, I drew. It’s an incredible opportunity.' This opportunity has become one of the most intriguing artistic adventures of the twentieth century. With introductory texts by Flavio Arensi and Giacinto Di Pietrantonio.
