Description from the seller

Napoléon III era marquetry box

Amboine loupe veneer or thuja? and marquetry in the Boule style.
The square box measures approximately 20 cm on each side and 8 cm in height.
The center of its lid is beautifully marquetried with brass, rosewood, ebony, and mother-of-pearl inlay.
The central cartouche features a discreet monogram.
The perimeter of the cover is simply framed with brass fillets.
The interior is upholstered with blue silk fabric, still in good condition considering its age.
The original lock needs to be checked, as the key is present as a decoration. I advise against using it, even if it seems to work perfectly without the cover. Once sealed, it is almost impossible to open, so I emphasize its decorative aspect.

In good overall condition, some signs of wear, small stains—please carefully look at the photos, as they serve as a description.
It is a very beautiful decorative object that can restore its original function.

19th-century Napoleonic III era sewing box in loupe marquetry.
Silk-upholstered interior with designated slots for utensils (missing).

dimensions

17 cm x 12 cm x 8 cm
