A solid wood Louis XV–style coffee table dating to the second half of the 19th century (Napoléon III historicist reinterpretation), with serpentine top, cabriole legs, decorative marquetry, bronze gilded mounts, hidden drawers with the original key, and overall wear indicating use and the need for restoration.
Description from the seller
This Louis XV-style table features a sinuous and elegant structure, with curved lines and refined proportions that reflect the characteristic rococo taste of the mid-18th century, although this piece was made in the second half of the 19th century as a historicist reinterpretation.
It is made of solid wood with high-quality marquetry, composed of fine veneers of different species that form geometric and decorative motifs on the tabletop and the apron. The marquetry, well preserved in its design, shows surface wear, which evidences its age and prolonged use.
The table features hidden internal drawers, discreetly integrated into the structure, and retains its original key, a rare detail that adds both historical and functional value. The gilded bronze mounts on the corners, legs, and handles add shine and sophistication, following the taste for metallic ornamentation applied to prestigious furniture.
The cabriolé legs and the serpentine outline of the tabletop reinforce the stylistic affiliation with French court furniture. However, the piece shows signs of aging, such as small losses in the varnish, slight oxidation on the bronzes, and possible movements at the joints, indicating that it requires restoration to regain its original splendor.
It is a decorative and functional piece that, once restored, can once again occupy a prominent place in classic interiors, historical furniture collections, or spaces that value craftsmanship and the French stylistic legacy.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
