Country of origin: Italy; Model: cotton damask bedspread with white piquet weaving, fully embroidered.
Description from the seller
Splendid matrimoniale duvet cover in pure cotton damask with artisanal loom work in piquet, from the first half of the 1900s, entirely woven with damask embroideries and ton-sur-ton circles. The particular feature is the workmanship that differentiates it from ordinary prints or embroideries with raised work, as the designs were woven inside. The effect is splendid. There are squares with a flower in the center and around hieroglyphs.
Pique weaving is a process that creates fabrics with raised designs, obtained through a special weave that uses a double weave or raised threads. It is achieved by creating a raised structure through a two-weave technique that adds thickness and a different look to the fabric. A bedspread that is all craftsmanship.
To embellish it, a straight 10 cm-high band.
The lace-free bedspread measures 226 cm in width and 213 cm in length. Add 10 cm of straight fringe.
It’s all one piece, both in the central part and in the sides. Along the entire perimeter, 10 cm high, there are rhombuses.
In the center there is an oval seam sewn on the inside that, given the white color and the workmanship, is hardly noticeable. On one side, 27 cm of fringe are also missing at the terminal part, and in some areas of the bedspread there are signs of age and wear.
The fringe can be easily changed, and you can buy a passementerie trim or a straight fringe.
If you look closely at the photos, you can see the mend and that the fringe is missing.
It has always been highly valued for its beauty, with the utmost care and attention, and shows no stains.
These are details because when it is laid out on a bed, the embroidery and the workmanship stand out. It shows the signs of time and use. The photos are more explanatory than words. It is part of my family’s trousseau.
I've used it a lot, specifically for processing.
When I ship, I use private couriers rather than the postal service because it arrives sooner and the communication is simpler.
Costs vary depending on whether it concerns Europe band 1 or 2, such as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Eastern European countries, or band 3 such as Norway, Malta, Cyprus.
And the rest of the world
The customs duties will be borne by the buyer.
