Napoléon III era marble fireplace clock, entirely in marble (black polished and veined red marble), dating ca. 1850–1900, with a brass Jappy mechanical movement and a half‑hour gong strike, key and pendulum provided, dimensions 22.5 × 21 × 11.5 cm, weight 5.48 kg, in good used condition with minor age-related wear.
Description from the seller
Napoleon III style fireplace clock made of marble from the 19th century.
French Napoleon III era fireplace clock (circa 1860/1880), entirely made of marble, combining polished black marble and veined red marble, finely assembled.
The case features a simple and elegant rectangular shape, typical of the mantel clocks of the Second Empire, with an upper cornice and a moulded plinth also made of marble.
The white enamel dial with black Roman numerals has two winding holes.
The enamel shows visible flaws, with no missing parts, consistent with the age of the watch.
It is equipped with a French Jappy mechanical movement in brass, with an anchor escapement, and a bell chime.
The clock works and is wound with a key (key and pendulum provided).
Authentic 19th-century clock, decorative and of high quality, ideal for a fireplace or an antique watch collection.
Well-preserved overall for a 19th-century clock, featuring a small old chip on a lower corner of the veined marble, a discreet superficial chip that does not detract from the overall presentation. There are some micro-scratches and traces of normal use related to age; see the photos, which are part of the description.
