Delftware lidded vase in a classic baluster form, hand-painted in deep cobalt blue with a motif of flowers, vines and a bird, dating to ca. 1955–1970, height 23 cm, width 10 cm, made by Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland in Gouda, Holland, with its original lid and in good vintage condition with slight signs of age and use and a fine production hairline inside the neck not affecting stability or decoration.
Description from the seller
Authentic Delft lidded vase executed in a classic baluster form and crowned with a distinctive parrot-knob.
The vase is fairly hand-painted in deep cobalt blue with a decoration of flowers, scrolls and a bird, rendered in a loose, artisanal brushwork. The subtle variation in blue tones and brushstrokes emphasizes the craftsmanship and makes each piece unique. The decor is inspired by historic Delft examples and shows chinoiserie influences, in keeping with the Delft tradition.
On the bottom it is marked with, among other things, the Delft house (factory mark), model number 5002 and the designation Delft / Gouda / Holland, which confirms the origin and places the object in the postwar production period.
