Provenance: small village of the South Atlas, Morocco.
Superb and imposing traditional Berber necklace of large size, typical of the tribes of southern Morocco.
A rare ceremonial piece, richly composed of large pearls with vivid and contrasting colors.
The large yellow beads are made of Berber amber (phenolic resin), used in Morocco since the mid-20th century to imitate natural amber while retaining its warmth and translucency.
The other pearls, smaller and multicolored, are made of natural stones such as malachite, azurite, and carnelian, creating a striking contrast with the amber elements.
