Description from the seller

This is a bronze figurine of a warrior from the Kingdom of Benin, possibly an Oba (tribal leader), crafted by the Edo people of Nigeria.
The sculpture was made using the complex lost-wax method (lost-wax technique).
Such bronze statues stood as symbols of the hierarchical structure of the society of the Kingdom of Benin.
The sculptures, known as the "Benin Bronzes", are world-famous and historically significant, although they are often associated with colonial injustice and the issue of repatriation.
The warrior wears traditional clothing, including an ornate headdress, coral necklaces (a royal material), and a weapon.
