German 800/1000 silver presentation/serving dish from Hamburg, made by Franz Mosgau (FZM) circa 1895–1910, weighing 313 g with dimensions 27.5 x 19 x 2.5 cm, in good antique condition with light signs of wear and an Art Nouveau finish.
Description from the seller
German silver presentation or serving dish, manufactured around 1900 by Franz Mosgau (master mark FZM), active in Hamburg.
The bowl is made of solid 800/1000 silver and sits on four ball-shaped feet, giving the piece an elegant and dignified appearance. The richly profiled rim is designed in a Neo-Rococo / historicist style, with refined rocaille and floral motifs, typical of high-quality German table silver from the fin-de-siècle.
The silver bears the official German imperial hallmarks:
Moon & Crown (German Imperial Seal, introduced in 1888)
800 silver fineness
FZM – Franz Moskau, Hamburg
This combination of hallmarks confirms an authentic German silver object, manufactured between ca. 1895 and 1910.
The bowl is sturdy and well-made, with a beautiful natural patina and normal signs of wear in keeping with its age. No cracks or repairs observed.
