Sculpture Vase by Elio Schiavon (1925–2004)

Elio SCHIAVON, born in Arzergrande, in the Province of Padua, in 1925, and pursued his studies at the Scuola d'Arte Ceramica di Nove, as a pupil of Andrea Parini.
Having moved with his family to Bassano del Grappa, he works as an apprentice at the ceramic workshop “Zortea” and later attains the artistic mastership at the Academy of Venice. In the early 1950s he marries Linda Metta, who soon becomes a precious collaborator. In the same years he makes his debut by presenting his first works at various exhibitions and competitions, and in 1954 he opens his own furnace, named “Schiavon Ceramiche” in Padua, where he produces commercial-oriented work alongside some monotype creations with an archaizing influence. In the second half of the 1950s a school-workshop is added to the atelier."}
In 1964 Elio Schiavon moved his business to Abano Terme. By the end of the 1980s he left the manufacturing in the hands of his son Luca.
Elio Schiavon died in Tonadico, in the province of Pordenone, in 2004.
