Three circular solid oak side tables in dark brown, dating to the 1960s–1970s and in good used condition with minor signs of aging and small stains; top diameters 32 cm, 28 cm and 25 cm with heights of 37 cm, 33 cm and 29 cm respectively.
Description from the seller
These dark oak circular side tables are rare. They have a strong, robust, and chunky appearance. Brutalist at its best.
A lowered edge has been applied to the tabletop, and the legs have a small decoration created by chamfered sides. This stops about 8 centimeters from the top. The tabletops are made of glued strips of wood. Because of this form of woodworking, a beautiful play of colors and patterns has emerged.
The small tables are a beautiful addition to a Japandi or minimalist-styled interior. These tables cannot be pushed completely under each other. They are side tables, but they can also be arranged in a group to function as a coffee table.
Origin: the Netherlands
Estimated age: 1950 - 1970
Tabletop diameter 32 cm, height 37 cm
Tabletop diameter 28 cm, height 33 cm
Tabletop diameter 25 cm, height 29 cm
weight 9.2 kg
These tables are popular for their timelessness and functionality: The design from the 60s/70s is functional and has a clean, minimalist aesthetic that was popular in the Mid-Century Modern (MCM) period. The visible wood grain and the rugged finish emphasize the natural state of the material. The natural state of the material underscores MCM, but Brutalism is also applicable here. 'Brutalism' in furniture refers to the emphasis on rough, unfinished materials and massive, sculptural forms. The use of solid oak contributes to a heavy and durable appearance. The simple, circular tabletop and the thick legs emphasize the structure of the object itself; this is also characteristic of a brutalist design.
The tables can be arranged in many playful ways. See the photos for the examples, but also to show the condition in which the tables are. No damage, almost no signs of use. On the smallest table there is a piece of wood that sticks up a bit from the top surface. They are solid oak tables that can withstand a knock and are in very neat condition. All tables are photographed both separately and together. This allows you to form a good impression of these tables yourself. The photos are part of the description.
The tables will be carefully packed and shipped insured.
